Loud bathroom, no AC what can be difficult in warmer days, uncomfortable and strange smelling pillow, I had to use my neck pillow. Minus for no fridge in the room.

Very good location, close to everything, still in centrum, but far away from loudness, only the gate door from outside may be annoying by night, they are really loud. Cozy room, clean bathroom, nice staff. Everyday cleaning.

The bed in the hotel room is quite creaky and noisy, making it challenging to get in or out of bed without disturbing your partner, especially when preparing to sleep or getting up in the morning.

The location is pretty good, the two streets crossing right below the hotel are full of restaurants and there's a shopping mall with a supermarket. Everything you need on a trip can be easily found in the surrounding area. If you don't mind to walk for 15 min you can easily reach touristic points such as Sé Cathedral, cablecar to get to the Toboggans Sledges or gardens, CR7 museum, Mercado dos Lavradores, Rua Santa Maria. And it close to the checkpoint to GetYourGuide tours(a must to do).

I for one as a traveller am always on the move, I need myself a shelter that is private, comfortable and very well accessible, and the was pretty much Hotel Gordon for me, plus it was incredibly cozy. Let alone the incredibly friendly host, she gave me very helpful tips to help me with my stay in Madeira as well! I'd pretty much visit again.

You hear every noise. The mattresses are very uncomfortable.

We loved the location. The hotel is in the city centre, there is a lot of bars and restaurants! The building is old but very clean.

The tubes in the bathroom tend to make seriously scary and loud noises when the air pressure chance. horror movie stuff, when in the middle of the night. Can be fixed with turning on the water or flush the toilet (they do get away anyway, but you might want to get rid of them faster). Happend repeatedly.

Staff is really nice! (You might to bring a translator oder already able to communicate in Portuguese) The location! Unbeatable for the price. I don't need much of luxury, so it was quite fine for me. It was clean und comfy. The bathroom may be a bit to old-fashioned, but everything worked just fine.

Rooms are without air conditioning which can be challenging on hot summer nights. You need to have windows open and I got quite bitten by mosquitos during the night.

I missed en electric kettle and fridge in the room, we stayed there for a few days, so it was a disadvantage, especially that staff was not very happy when I asked for the accession to the fridge in the breakfast room - If I wanted to take sth form the fridge I had to ring the bell at the entrance to call the staff, sometimes I had to wait for a few minutes for someone to come - a fridge and an electric kettle with full time accession would be very helpful for everybody - and the last thing, we were terribly beaten by same insects, I do not know what is was (maybe ants), but after a few days we still suffer from these bites

very good localisation, which is quite important in Funchal - for a very reasonable price - it is an old building needing a little investment and refreshment, our room was gloomy but it was cleaned everyday, and the cleaning person was very friendly, private parking is a big adventage in this city, the hotel is within a walking distance to many nice pubs and restaurants and many different attractions, a big mall is in the nearest street, marina and the boulevard is very close

Even though the room was cleaned regularly, the towels were not always usable.

The location of the hotel is perfect, near the Old Town of Funchal. The staff was smiling and they cleaned our room every day, towels changed etc. The room is basic but really comfy and would recommend it :)

One night there was a heavy storm and the water was leaking from the roof next to window, it was pretty loud sometimes so you couldn’t sleep well. But it just only one day and my bad luck, other rooms in hotel were just fine.

Very nice and ready for help stuff of the hotel, good location. a lot of activities around your location and everything is next to you, car rentals, restaurants, shopping centre, hop on hop off busses. But the most important is discover island buy your own, so car rentals is more important then other stuff.

when I arrived around 9pm on Friday eve it did look closed, I rang the bell a couple of times and somewhere came but I did try phoning also. a man met me with a very brief explanation of the property, and I never saw him again. no one seemed to be around much- reception empty with a phone number to call. floor of room was not clean- was covered in small grains of sand or something. I did find it hard to sleep as a street lamp right outside my room and curtains very thin. also quite a lot of noise from nearby bars and people in street. bed a bit uncomfortable and pillow very lumpy.

very central location - easy to walk everywhere, close to shops cafes and bars. nice little garden out the back to have breakfast in but only seemed to be open in the morning. breakfast looked decent - although I didn’t get breakfast as they said it’s not included with booking.com but was for other guests. I went out for coffee instead/ plenty of places around.

there were old water pipes and sometimes due to changing pressure - you could hear noise also during night. also in the morning was weak pressure since we were in top floor, but this we knew in advance. we were in attic room and the ceiling window brought lots of light during sunrise - no curtains. We used eye blinds. We stayied in end of april and it was already hot enough for us to stay in room without aircon. Sleeping with open window only. Bear in mined its old building with nice atmosphere tho. middle floor or 1st floor would be more cold.

Excelent old lady - owner. breakfast were simple but very nice- especially the homemade coffe:) very nice location walking distance to old town, bit harder to come by car - due to narrow streets but we managed, on side its private parking - you get the key to gate. very cheap price day parking and breakfast only 3-4euros/day.

Facilities were good, the only thing that might be missing in the summer is air conditioning. Also toiletries and a hair dryer could be a nice addition.

The location is amazing, very close to the center, which was the most important to me. The room was simple but very clean. There’s a mall with a big supermarket and bakery less than 5 mins away, the airport bus also stops there.

It is an amazing value for money. The location is very central and in a quiet area (you can hear the birds singing when you open the windows). Don’t expect luxury, the rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. The owner is really nice and would go the extra mile to help when she can. I was out all day for activities so this hotel was the perfect choice, pretty cheap and calm to be able to rest at night. 100% recommend ! thank you very much
