Positive section of review
The room we stayed in was newly renovated and it was everything we needed the location was great for families both old and new town are in walking distance. If you don’t mind sitting with the locals the bar just abit down the road is really cheap and everyone was really friendly. But the best thing was Anabela she literally couldn’t do enough for you, nothing we needed was too much even lending beach towels as I’d forgot to pack them, sorting our transfers who provided car seats for my 3 month old and 4 year old! She was and absolute star from start to finish.

A short drive from the city of Guimarães - Portugal's birthplace almost 1,000 ago - this 15th century house has been in the same family for 600 years. The atmosphere is one of living, and very lived, history, a stage where the house, the furniture, the beautiful garden and the family are intertwined - sometimes indistinctly... We were given a large, clean, aristocratic room with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. Our stay proved to be as charming as we had hoped for, with thanks to the owners for their extraordinary welcome.

The apartment is very comfortable. I was staying in room 301, it has the most gorgeous sea/mountain/city view. My personal recommendation. This room fits the best for 1-2 persons. Everything was very clean. The manager Maikel was always in contact to resolve any question. The apartment has a restaurant on the first floor, so there is place where you always can order a food. And there are also a lot of restaurants nearby. Also this apartment is not close to the road, so it’s quiet silent place. Definitely great place to stay!

We were greeted warmly at the front desk upon our arrival. The hotel also surprised us with a free sparkling wine delivered to our room for our 33rd wedding anniversary. Normally, my husband and I don’t drink. But this time, the wine tasted so good that we finished the bottle. That was a very nice touch and truly appreciated it.

I wasn’t able to sleep during our first night at the hotel due to very strong sewage smell from the bathroom. We closed the bathroom door, but still the odor creeped in our bed. We informed the front desk the following day and they fixed the issue right away. Apparently, the sewage issue is not new to the hotel. Other people had experienced it too.. We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. And there was an issue again on the 3rd night. Since we were dropped off late by our tour guide in Sintra, we didn’t get a chance to buy water from the store. So, my husband talk to the front desk if there’s 1 free bottle of water per night stay. Front desk said NO, and we had to pay. We don’t have problem paying for the water, but it could have been nice if the front desk just gave my husband water since we did not receive any credit for the huge inconvenience on the first night. Lastly, on our departure day I spoke to the staff at the front desk if he could call a taxi for us to be picked up at 9am. He said, sure no problem. My husband and I were at the lobby at 8:55 am. I spoke to the staff if the taxi is on its way. He said “what taxi”? Apparently, he forgot. So, we waited for 15 min for the taxi to arrive. But before the taxi arrived, staff said taxi is on its way and will arrive in 2 min. He kept on saying every after 2 min until it reached 15 min 😞 We were worried that we’ll missed our flight. So, my husband expressed his disappointment. Staff said, “go home, we don’t need you here! Have a good flight”. The staff is right, we’re not coming back and telling our friends and family not to book in this hotel.

The residence was elegant and palatial. The rooms were generously sized and bathroom requirements comfortable. The pool was very useful for my sore , tired legs from walking. The kitchen was large and well equipped. . A pleasure to cook in it.

The staff was so friendly and polite, especially the gentleman (his name Alfredo), the room is very very small and contains 6 dorms. The toilets were relatively clean and sufficient.

Due to the rooms are very small and adjacent, I just do not like some noise from the gusts during my stay. Also, the common area is just the eating tables and it was not comfortable.

The elevator was out of order, not so easy for a 3rd floor walk-up with luggage and baby. The cooking facilities in the kitchen were also totally out of order.
