The most wonderful stay we have had in a hotel anywhere in the world. The staff in particular were amazing, so genuinely lovely, welcoming, efficient and helpful. We also enjoyed the beautifully prepared and delicious meals. The room itself was more like a suite, so roomy, comfortable and pretty. Then there was the cute bathroom overlooking the lake and Mt Fuji. We felt sad to leave and hope to come back one day soon. Many thanks for everything and also for the little gifts.

The location is exceptional. I had the chance to see Mount Fuji directly from my room. The staff is warm and friendly, and Yoshi is an amazing host as well as an excellent cook. He even drove me to the train station on the day of my departure, although he wasn't obligated to do so, and he showed many thoughtful gestures throughout my stay. A big thank you. (As an added bonus, other guests I saw brought their dogs with them, and they were all adorable.)

I felt so welcome and happy at Lakeside Hotel :). From my room I could see Mount Fuji clearly, and I loved that the room was Japanese style. You can also see Mount Fuji from the restaurant window when you're having breakfast and/or dinner. I ordered breakfast and I would recommend it to anyone (even for people who are used to Western breakfast), it was a-ma-zing. Also, the staff are just the sweetest most awesome people who are always happy to see you and will help you with anything, like picking you up from the station or bringing you to the station, even when it's a regular day and not the checkout day. From the hotel you can walk to the lake, to take the famous water+Fuji picture and near the hotel is a busstop for the sightseeing bus. It's also easy to visit the Chureito Pagoda, just take 1 train and walk there. The onsen was super relaxing as well. Honestly, I have nothing but praise, 100% recommended for sure. Hopefully I'll come back one day and then I'll book this hotel again :).

We also loved the traditional Japanese room, the dinner and breakfast selection and being able to wear the yukata provided by the ryokan. This is a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan), which means traditional-style rooms with sliding doors, tatami mats, and futon bedding; a (nude) bathhouse within the hotel facilities; and in our case, a full traditional dinner and breakfast. This is the iconic ryokan experience! I would certainly recommend Ururun Kawaguchiko to anyone else travelling to Japan, and if you can't make it here I would strongly recommend trying to find and stay in a ryokan somewhere else for at least one night.
