You can also do a tour in the area to see how Tempeh, Tofu and Brown Sugar are made and you will stop at a some other places with the nice guidance of Ponido (sorry if the name is not totally correct 😅). I can really recommend it!

Food was delicious- Yunyun is an awesome chef - breakfast 10/10 and dinner too!!! If youre staying on Pulau Weh - this is the place to be!!!

Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.

Fun Family Guest House n Jungle Tour is offering accommodation in Bukit Lawang. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. This 2-star guest house offers private entrance. The room supplied the basics plus a mosquito net and was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and I was never too hot. The tour was astounding. Although there is no guarantee to see animals, it’s almost certain that you will. I saw 10 orangutans on the first day of my two day one night trek, including two completely wild ones which are difficult to find. I also saw many other species of mammals including the white gibbon and pig tailed monkey. Another rare find was a very large tortoise. The hotel owner and tour guide is very generous and welcoming, makes sure you are looked after and comfortable, and ensures a good time. This is the tour guide that you want. He is the one who guides the park rangers. He will take you to locations other tourists don’t go and you will spend the first night in a location away from the other camps that has a waterfall and very nice pool in the river to reward yourself with after a long hot trek. I highly recommend this hotel and tour guide. You will not regret it. If you have the time and money, definitely choose to do the longer treks. The guide/hotel owner also helped set up my transportation to and from Bukit Lawang and helped me plan the rest of my trip.
