Was not expecting that hotel is so close to the beach. Also, we had a fantastic terrace, so entire family enjoyed it, especially our dog :)

I LOVE Portovenere.
I LOVE Portovenere. This was my second time there - I visited Cinque Terre in 2010, and arrived in Portovenere on the ferry. After only an hour, I fell in love. When my husband and I planned our trip this year, I knew I wanted to share this special place with him. He now loves it as much as I do. It has all the beauty, culture, and history of Cinque Terre, with more open waterfront and many fewer tourists. It is relaxed and out-of-the-way and inviting. We had three wonderful dinners, all featuring local seafood. All the restaurants have outdoor seating and many are dog-friendly. The Monday morning market was a fun surprise. It is easy to get to Cinque Terre on the ferry, and to La Spezia by bus or taxi, and from there you can catch the train to Cinque Terre and other sites up and down the coast. There is plenty to see and do in town - the church and castle, the beach, the wharf, the shops, classes in making your own pesto, and much more we didn't have time to discover. I would go back tomorrow if I could!

My initial review was mistakenly for a previous B.Com property in Rumaggiore. Apologies. Staying in too many B.Coms ! All in a sequence.
La Calata was the best we stayed in all trip. Really excellent. Friendly caring host. Met us in the street to help get the right door. Fantastic place. Lovely views. We’d stay again - any day. The facilities and comfort couldn’t be beaten.

It's in a beautiful setting but, to visit Cinque Terre, you'd be better off somewhere like Levanto or in one of the villages inland, which are very quiet but lovely (and a quarter of the cost!) Even in late September and some awful weather, Porto Venere is packed with tourists and people from cruise ships so it's harder to enjoy it.

The Grand Hotel did not disappoint.
The Grand Hotel did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in you feel genuinely welcomed, wonderful staff, nothing is ever a problem. The view from our room was delightful, looking across the water to the beautiful old buildings of Portovenere. The breakfast was incredible, so many choices. The terrace was a lovely area to spend time for a drink as you take in some sun and the view or for dinner under the stars. We stayed 4 days and I was not ready to leave, highly recommend.

This is my favourite new region in Italy!!
This is my favourite new region in Italy!! Captivating views around each corner of the coastline, breathtaking rock formations and boats zooming to and from. Soothing to sit amongst the coastal life. The villages felt very authentic and less touristic than other places that are this beautiful. Can’t wait to go back :)
the hotel was moderate in breakfast services but lovely overall, the staff was very accommodating and the rooms overall were very nice, but being Americans and coming from the South we are a bit spoiled with A/C's and not having an A/C the moment the temperature exceeded 84 degrees was a bit upsetting for my children we survived. and we honestly loved Portovenere I'd say more than the hustle and bustle of more touristy areas.
Big and comfortable room, good bathroom. Great location, in the heart of PV and next to the start of trekking paths. Everything at a nice walk distance. The staff was very kind and helpful; they also allowed me to leave the bags there after the check out for the rest of the day. Quite few steps to reach the room, but is not a downside as the hotel is developed in height and I found it very picturesque.
Truly wonderful staff. We can't put enough stars in our review for Paola and Giovanni....they made our stay even though the hotel and location are phenomenal as well. So much to see here and not very "touristy" at all during the week. Take their recommendations as the know the best things to do. Very easy to hop a taxi to La Spezia and go to the Cinque Terre for the day. Grazie Mille.
Great location away from the crowds of portovenere, big rooms, nice pool and absolutely amazing food! One of the best dinners we had in the whole of Italy was at the restaurant, which is open to the public too. The restaurant setting is literally on the water next to little boats, it is quiet and romantic. Best tuna and lemon sorbetto we’ve ever tasted! We’ll definitely be back!
we really really loved this property! the location in Portovenere was perfect, the room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and the host, Fabio, and his wife, Paula, were so so so kind! They gave us recommendations on what to do, helped us figure out the bus system, and were so nice to talk to! We recommend staying here and will come back for sure next time we are in Italy!!
The hotel is in a great location for exploring Porto Venere and Cinque Terre. The room was bright, modern & clean with an excellent shower. Nice little touches each day such as chocolates in the room and a stocked mini bar. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices. Giovanni, our host was fantastic and went out of his way to ensure we had a great stay.
The view from the garden has to be the best in all Portovenere. Having breakfast in that garden with that view was the best part of the whole trip. The breakfast was personally served by the crew, which made everything just special. We felt so valued as guests, and the experience of staying in a hotel with only 5 rooms is amazing.
It is a beautiful and modern room with a very comfortable bed. In Portovenere there are many steps to climb, but for this property it was relatively easy. It was nice not to have to climb stairs inside the property either. The host was very kind and informative. The property is really quite lovely.
The location is perfect as a starting point to visit the Cinque Terre as the boats depart very regularly from Portovenere. Lorella, the landlady, assisted us excellently during our stay! Nice to have a garden with the necessary furniture to have an aperitive and just relax in the deckchairs.
The hotel had a gorgeous view of the town. Martina was a wonderful host and helped us with dinner recommendations and booking a taxi for our departure. Breakfast on the patio was lovely. Rooms were comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend this little gem.
Amazing terrace area overlooking the bay of poets….staff was helpful and very friendly…..Portovenere great location for visiting 5terre but you need to ferry which is expensive and prevents evening time in5terre however Portovenere lovely in the evening!
Great location !
Breakfast was awesome, lot of choices
Hotel has a terrace with view on the Harbor
Room is clean and bed is comfortable
The bus stop is walking distance
Will definitely recommend for a stay in the region
Fantastic views from our room, quiet location. Stefania is an excellent host and provided great tips to explore Liguria and Cinque Terre. We only staid 2 nights but would love to come back for our next time in region.
The apartment was very clean and the views excellent. The location to go to Portovenere was also very convenient.
The instructions received form the host to get to the apartment an to access it were very clear.
The property is the best by far in all of Cinque Terre. It’s location is unique in Portovenere, but the ferries make it very accessible. The room was lovely, the restaurant is incredible.
Nice room, very well furnished, very well cleaned, comfortable beds. Excellent location (just a few stairs downside from Portovenere main road) with sea view.
