Riomaggiore is a wonderful but tiny village - one of the cinque terres on the Ligurian coast. It always has a lot of tourists from all over the world but even so the charm still shines through. You must find a place that will serve you home made troffi pasta with homemade pesto, the best was a Trattoria near the railway station. As long as you like seafood you will certainly not go hungry here. Riomaggiore is a very good base to explore the area either on foot, by sea or by train, get your walking boots on and have a marvellous time.
Knowing about the historical importance which is still very evident in the centro storico makes it extremely interesting. We loved the Ligurian cuisine, especially the Genoese pesto. We could buy our own food from the local shops and enjoy it in the apartment, as well as eat out.
Bajardo is a small mountain village in Liguria. It is not trying to charm or please, it is original, itself and provincial - just as it always has been. It is not pretty, it is beautiful and proud. People are nice, easy to talk to but they will never make the first move. If you care for a good platter of 'cinghiale' (wild boar), try Maurizio's restaurant, first restaurant on the left side of the main street. There are several good mountain hikes to be made with Bajardo as a storting point.
We loved the colorful buildings hanging off the cliffs and tumbling down to the center of town. We hiked the famous Sentierro Rosso between Vernazza and Corniglia and between Vernazza and Monterosso - the views were breathtaking. And during our 4-night stay in the area, we gorged on the seafood that abounds in the area and the simple yet delicious way they prepared it. The area is hilly and the accommodations are located on these steep hills but we were able to find accommodation that was only a few yards away from the train station and near the center of town. Although our room was on the third level, it was still better than some of the accommodations that were up the steep hills - the upside would be their gorgeous views of the Ligurian Sea.
Great location for Cinque Terre visit-train station 5 minutes from hotel. Lots to do in La Spezia-great shopping and super restaurant-“La Nuova Spezia”where we ate each night-Luciano and Fiero treat you like family with fish specials fresh from the Ligurian Sea. A fave spot for locals to dine!
Busy port town with lots of streets to explore. Within easy distance of Portofino for a day out along with other towns on the Ligurian coast. Short transfer from the airport. Eating out good value.
The place is in a peaceful and relaxing area among the green Ligurian hills, the owner is a really nice person who provided us with all we needed and gave us some good advise for our trip. The barbecue outside and the garden were stunning. Highly recommended.
Lovely characterful place which has a good vibe. More ‘Italian’ than the more well known Cinque Terre locations, if that makes sense. The working fishing harbour is not only very attractive, it means there’s no shortage of fresh fish and seafood available across the many bars and restaurants. You’ll find walks from Camogli alongside the rugged and sometimes challenging Ligurian coast. It’s also a place to just linger and enjoy a drink at a bar, plus the tradition of aperitivo snacks, or feast in a restaurant. Boat rides can take you in both directions to various landmarks along the coast, or you can just hop on a train. The town rises up the cliffs from the promenade and each level is accessed by many steps, so beware if you’ve limited mobility, because some parts will be harder to reach than others. At the weekends in particular, the beach can be very busy, but the weather is also changeable, so don’t be surpised to see cloudy skies and get a few rain showers. By the way, the beach is not sand, so make sure you have suitable footwear.
I found the people to be contrary to what they say about ligurians. In Noli i found the people to be very friendly and easy. Normally they talk liguria and “those people” but i found Noli to be different. So ya... i would recommend
Wonderful base for exploring this part of Liguria. Close enough to San Remo and the coast, but far enough away from the noise and bustle. A lovely village to explore with character and friendliness.
Sestri Levante
Best experience in Liguria. Apartment is ideally located on the main street of historical center, so everything you may need is simply downstairs. Great beaches (free and private) are 5 mins walk. Apartment is fully renovated – all details are very good quality, has enough space for 2-3 people and everything you may need to be independent in washing and cooking. Windows are great quality – the main bar of the town right under our windows never disturbed us! Hosts are fantastic people, it was a pleasure to meet you and we’ll definitely be back 😊
Riomaggiore
I loved the room and the view is amazing! however the shower is very tiny if you are a big person good luck very clean also. there is a restaurant there the food is nice but the portions are very small, it is something I noticed in Liguria at the restaurant, I am italian in my region our portions are bigger, I am a skinny person I do not eat a lot but the portions in Liguria are extremelly small, and the restaurant is a bit expensive so I will not be back in LIguria sorry however I will give a 10 to the hotel! thanks for everything
Chiavari
This lovely Ligurian accommodation is in a perfect location with breathtaking views towards Portofino. There is a village shop/bar and nearby Chiavari is delightful. The friendly and helpful hostess Sylvia does everything she can to make your holiday really enjoyable. The well-equipped apartment is super clean and comfortable and has lots of welcoming items and treats. There are interesting walks and hiking trails nearby. It was good to meet Alberto, Sylvia's father! This property is highly recommended.
The calm, quiet and panoramic view sets stage for a very nice stay. It is however when combined with the hospitality, kitchen and an excellent assortment of Ligurian wines - also available by the glass and not only full bottles - that you are set for a truly excellent experience at La Sosta. From this spot you can just as easily explore Cinque Terre as any of the downtown or by the beach hotels. The difference comes when you retreat to La Sosta in the evening as well as when you wake up for breakfast. Pure bliss!
Monterosso al Mare
Santuario NS Soviore is a quiet, serene oasis away from the mobs of tourists in Cinque Terre. The rooms are basic but functional. The grounds are lovely and the views of Monterosso and the Ligurian Sea are breathtaking. I highly recommend having dinner at their restaurant. The food is delicious and reasonable priced. Be sure to make a reservation when you check-in. In addition to the restaurant, the hotel has a small bar/snack shop where you can purchase cappuccino, beer, wine, sandwich, etc.
Great location, especially if you need to be close to Brignole station (from which you van go to lots of small Ligurian towns on the beach). Beautiful, newly renovated hotel. The breakfast was exceptional. Fresh juice, really good cheeses and baked goods. We loved the room bc it had plenty of natural light. The hotel staff was very professional. We also needed additional blanket and the cleaning lady immediately brought it - great hospitality! I recommend staying in this hotel 100%!
Finale Ligure
We stayed at Pesce Palla in August 2023 and it was the best choice we could have made. Filippo was very helpful with checkin, parking, everything! The room was very clean, comfy, with a but of seaview. An additional bonus - there is a common area with coffee maker, kettle and dishes, very handy if you want to make breakfast. The location was spot on, right at the beach and close to the oldtown. If we ever go to Liguria again, we will return here for sure!
Ventimiglia
Excellent hotel/b&b recently renovated in central Ventimiglia, the room is spacious with a private terrace and a good size ensuite bathroom, in a quiet street by the flower market. A top choice in Ventimiglia where most of the places are old-fashioned and dated. Thw family also runs an Osteria restaurant in the same building that offers excellent Ligurian food with a modern twist. I highly recommend if passing through the town.
Apartment is in good location, close to the centre, and walkable distance to the beach, very close you have everything, restoraunt, cafe, market, meat store....Train station is not far, as well as bus station which we frequently used for travelling to Ligurian riviera beaches which are just great, as is the city of Savona! Flat is spacious, well equiped, and very, very nice, hosts are just great, friendly and very helpful!
Vernazza
Absolutely everything. The rooms are immaculate; furnishings and fixtures are new. That view from the web pictures is 100% accurate. The staff is personal and helpful in every way. After a stay here, the only place to go is home because everywhere else will seem more crowded and less enchanting. Vernazza is far and away the best mix of shops & restaurants relaxation on the Ligurian coast.
Pietra Ligure
Sant'Anna is at a perfect location close to the center of Pietra Ligure, a nice and atmospheric village at the Ligurian coast. From the balcony you have a magnificent view over the village and the sea. The swimming pool is excellent and the staff very friendly. The apartments are not to big, but reasonable value for money at the Ligurian coast. There is a separate room for bikes.
Sanremo
A very essential, 5 room property but everything works properly if you are not spending too much time at the hotel. Very easy access, not far away (less than 7 minutes) from the best car wash in the whole Liguria. Therefore I did not use the parking facilities of the hotel. The room is of a good size, silent, good however small bathroom, good shower.
I think, there is a big problem with hotels and apartments in Italy. But I was really surprised with this hotel. I expected much worse considering I am in Liguria :) - Great breakfast with different range of food - New furniture and everything stylish - Friendly professional staff Thank you for such a beautiful stay, we would definitely come back!
Genova
Claudio assisted us communicating by phone. He helped and gave local advice. The apartment was refurbished, smart and clean. Tea, milk, water and other bits were available on arrival. Bus service for just €2 and the train service and prices were excellent. I really enjoyed the stay in Genoa and recommend the apartment and Liguria. Will visit again.
Levanto
Everything was perfect! We loved the peaceful nature location- with the sounds only of birds and crickets! It was a spacious apartment with all our needs thoughtfully provided- so homey with a view to the olive trees and hills- all the way to the Ligurian sea! I never wanted to leave❤️ Franca was such a wonderful host- so thorough and kind!🙏❤️
Great view from a room, great location, beach throught the tunnel is 2 minutes from the hotel on the walk. You can go to the best beaches in Liguria on foot, by bus, by car (it is possible to find a parking from Monday to Friday). The restaurant where we had a breakfest is on the terrace with the gorgeus view on the see. Love it.
Vernazza
Ideal location in the heart of Vernazza. No challenge finding cold Limoncello nearby. Blue Marlin cafe across the street was convenient and ideal for morning cappuccino and cornetti. Ligurian pesto trofi top notch. The nooks and crannies of Vernazza to be explored. Anchovy pizza fantastico. La Torre restaurant unrivaled views.
Pietra Ligure
The owners gave me a brochure about things to do in the area. This was great and made my stay unforgettable impressive. The location of the apartment was so central that I could walk to most of the attractions, Grotte di Borgio Verezzi, Pietra Liguria old town and Loano. Also the weekly market was just down the street.
La Spezia
Professional and friendly service. Rooms clean and well-kept. The hotel is perfectly situated literally in the railway station building. Very good for trips to Cinque Terre and Liguria. Delicious sweet breakfasts in a cafe nearby. We sat in the garden at the roundabout and admired the city life.
Hotel in the core of Manarola. Easy to move to visit all 5 terre from here. Next to shops and bars, close to train station. Very kind owner and good breakfast. I recommend it. The rooms are newly renovated with pretty bathrooms. The size of the room was larger than average rooms in liguria region.
