How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There is nothing wrong with the property. The problem I found involved getting enough supplies of coffee pods for the machine in the room. It seems that one is rationed to two pods a day, one decaffeinated and one normal and only one little sachet of milk.This surprised me as it is a 5 Star hotel and I was staying in a double room.It is difficult to know where to request more as there is no hospitality department in the hotel and room service will only bring ready made coffee. I was fortunate to discover that I could obtain milk from the bar and the bartender did manage to arrange for a few coffee pods to be delivered to my room..
The situation is perfect, the Airport Bus stops outside ,all the major interesting sites are easy to walk to. The gym was handy.

The bar is okay but pretty ordinary looking. The main salon is beautiful but always empty. It should serve coffee and be the hub of activities but it is not used at all.
The hotel is well maintained and historical. It is a very beautiful building that is worth its 5 star rating. While there is nothing wrong with the serivice it certainly is not as complete as a typical 5 star property. For example, there is no concierge desk. I think the level of staff and service is more consistent with a 3 star property.

Room somewhat dark - only a minor negative.
Ideally placed, in easy walking distance for the old city & The Guggenheim. Comfortable, old world style hotel with friendly, informative staff. Excellent pre booked underground car parking with the added bonus (for us) of two Tesla EV charge points.

Staff weren't very helpful at check in. We had driven and parking was difficult and must be reserved. Only stayed one night so little to add.
Very central and within walking distance of the Guggenheim and old town. Spacious room and breakfast was good. Cute little bar for evening drink

Breakfast offered lots of pastries, but limited hot food options. Instructions in the booking confirmation for guests arriving by car would be advisable.
Concierge on duty was very helpful and took time to assist us personally. Bar staff were very friendly. Room was very modern.

All was very good the only thing maybe is that during 4 night stay the bedlinnen were not replaced. Perhaps they would do that if you ask
The location is the best it can be in Bilbao. Near to everything. Breakfast was superb as it should be with the 5 star hotels.

No complaints on our end, lovely stay, except maybe the room and garage prices, but nobody twisted my arm to stay there…😏

This was the last night of a 3 week tour of Northern Spain and didn't disappoint. The room, staff and food were all excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Public areas are exceptional

A couple of small maintenance issues had been overlooked (toilet was wobbly) but this wasn’t a big issue.
It’s central location, old world class and charm, good breakfast, and most of all the kind and efficient front desk staff.

Room was excellent. We did not eat in the hotel as dinner did not start until 20.30hrs which we thought was late but maybe this is normal. In the Bar / Grill we enjoyed drinks with nuts, crisps, olives provided, which was a nice touch but bar food was limited. Bar staff were very friendly and professional.

Parking was a little bit difficult and you had to pay a meter since their garage was full. Also know where to pull up to unload your baggage that's marked since it's on a busy street.
Location was amazing for walking to many different places for shopping and old town
